CRunCH

Run the Flora London Marathon

CRunCH teams up people who want to run the Virgin London Marathon with charities that have guaranteed places to offer.

We also match runners who have their own place (via the Club system or the Public Ballot) with the charity of their choice.

If you have arrived here without a particular cause in mind, you can choose from a wide range of charities offering more than 1,000 guaranteed places to people willing to raise sponsorship funds. If you have been directed here by your favourite charity, you will be taken straight to its application form when you click on the button below.

If selected, you will be asked sign a Pledge Form committing to raise an agreed amount. Since 1997, CRunCH has found places for many thousands of runners who together have raised more than £10 million pounds for good causes (an average per runner of more than £1,600).

Most of these runners would otherwise have missed the chance to take part because only one in six entrants is successful in the Public Ballot.

The Public Ballot for a place in the 2010 Marathon reached its full capacity within days of opening at the end of April, and is now closed. This means that, unless you have already applied for a place via the Ballot (see below), the only way to get a place is by applying to a charity for a Golden Bond - or guaranteed - place.

A note about Passwords: if you were on the CRunCH database for the 2009 Marathon and were prevented from running and wish to reapply, please do NOT use the 2010 application form but email info@crunch.org.uk if you have not already heard from us. If you ran for a CRunCH team in 2009, or registered on the CRunCH site prior to this year, please ensure you use a different password for your 2010 application.

Already in the Ballot? If you are one of the 120,000 names in the Ballot, you are still advised to apply here for a charity place as fewer than 20,000 Ballot applicants will be successful when the results are announced in September. If you do win a place through the Ballot, you then become an Own Place runner for your chosen charity and surrender your guaranteed place to another rejected runner.

Expect to get your own place? If you expect to acquire your own place under the five-times rejected rule or by any other method, you can still register to run for a charity here as an Own Place runner without the requirement to sign a pledge form. Please ensure you tick the Own Place button when requested on the application form.

Live in London? Many national charities are based in London, but not many focus their efforts solely on London. Sponsors will warm to a local cause, so take a look at these great LOCAL London organisations:
