What we do:

Lepra is a UK registered international charity working to transform the lives of people affected by leprosy and other neglected diseases. Many people think leprosy no longer exists, however, every day more than 600 people are diagnosed with the disease – almost 50 of these will be children. Through early diagnosis, intervention and support, our purpose is to enable children, women and men to take back control of their lives and overcome the poverty and prejudice that disease brings.

Working on the ground in India, Bangladesh and Mozambique we treat, educate and rehabilitate people affected by neglected diseases, supporting them to learn new skills, regain their independence and have a voice in their community.

In 2015-2016 we reached more than 279,000 people directly through diagnosis, treatment and care. We reached a further 2.3 million people through health education and events to raise awareness of diseases and reduce prejudice.

As a small charity, our runners number in tens rather than hundreds, so your support makes a real difference. Every step you take and every sponsor you receive will help transform lives.

As part of Team Lepra you will receive:

Here’s what one of our previous runners Chris had to say:

‘Apart from the fantastic work Lepra do worldwide, the fact that they are one of the smaller charities appealed to me. I feel that my fundraising efforts for them would make more of an impact than being one of hundreds of fundraisers for a larger organisation. The support that I’ve had from Holly and the team has been excellent and I will definitely be fundraising for them in the future’
