Charity: Bobath Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy
|Area of Operation:||Nationwide|
|Pledge level:||£1700 including £50 registration fee|
The Bobath Centre is a small charity with an international reputation for the treatment and care of children with cerebral palsy.
Cerebral Palsy affects one in 400 children in the UK and having the condition can make the simplest of activities, like getting dressed, eating and walking, hard to do. It affects the way a child interacts with and explores the world and can mean that, without effective therapy, a child's physical and intellectual development is held back. The Bobath Centre provides:
- physical, occupational and speech & language therapy tailored to a child's individual needs;
- support and advice for parents so that treatment becomes part of a child's daily routine;
- training for therapists, medical professionals and others to improve their skills and knowledge.
Last year, over 300 children visited the centre from all over the UK.
