EECF has been dedicated to increasing opportunities for people living in Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets and the City of London for over 25 years. Our mission is to drive philanthropy and charitable giving that responds to community needs and aspirations in East London, both now and in the future. We award grants to a wide range of local charities and community groups to improve opportunities for local people both through our own income and by managing donations on behalf of others.
Despite the growing opportunities in East London, almost 1 in every 4 children in Tower Hamlets live in income deprived households, affecting young people’s aspirations, attainment and wellbeing.
Through our Isle of Dogs Summer Programme we support fantastic local summer projects for children of all ages including football coaching, street dance activities, drama and dance workshops to help young people to learn new skills and avoid engaging in antisocial behaviour.
The scheme is delivered by a range of local well placed charities and has been running for more than a decade. Your hard work running and fundraising for EECF is essential, as without this crucial funding these programmes would not be able to support as many local children.
Taking part in positive activities over the summer can make a real difference; helping develop personal and social skills, reducing the likelihood young people will engage in antisocial behaviour and also helping increase motivation and engagement when they return to school.
By joining our Marathon team you will support hundreds of children and young people to have a fun-packed summer of activities in 2018. The money you raise will be used to give grants to local projects that engage children and young people in the Isle of Dogs and South Poplar area in constructive, interesting and accredited activities over the summer holidays.
In 2016 we supported over 775 local young people. Join our team to enable us to support even more local children in 2018!
